Amber Valley Rounders' Tournament

The Y9 girls took part in the first rounders tournament of the academic year on Wednesday 22nd May. The girls were able to work together playing against 4 schools. They showed great skills at bowling, second base, backstop and fourth base to make it hard for other schools to score rounders. Well done to Lucy Parkin, Abbie Greenhough, Freya Layton, Ruby Haslam, Emily Wall, Eve Howarth, Isabelle Froggatt, Holi Markham, Olivia Frost, Molly Guy, Isla Pepper, Nettie Gdula, Alyssa Smith.

Other girls rounders tournament coming up soon include the following:

  • Wednesday 5th June – Y10 Rounders at Ripley Academy

  • Tuesday 11th June – Y8 Rounders at Belper School

  • Thursday 20th June – Y7 Rounders at Aldercar High

DSSA Combined Events Championships 2019

On Thursday 22nd May, five athletes competed in the Derbyshire Combined Events Championship against other highly skilled athletes across the Derbyshire County.

Swanwick’s athletes were Charlie Yates, James Peacock (both Year 10), Archie Protheroe, Remy Maclaughlan (both Year 9), and Cecilia Smyth (Year 8). All athletes performed amazingly, and special congratulations go to Charlie and Archie who as a result of their efforts have qualified for the Derbyshire County Team.

In addition to this, 10 of our students have been recently selected to represent Amber Valley at the 2019 DSSA Track and Field Championships on Saturday 8th June, at Moorways Athletics Stadium, Derby.

These students are; Remy Maclaughlan, Archie Protheroe, Sam Geddis, Thomas Eason, Abigail Woolley, Charlie Yates, Charlie Litchfield, Cecilia Smyth, Martha Seargent and Logan Smith.
