Medical Procedures

Student Services has a medical room where basic first aid can be administered to students by one of our first aiders. Alternatively, first aid points are located in Technology, Sports Hall and Science and staff will initially deal with any departmental accidents. If your son or daughter becomes ill or has an accident during the school day they will be directed to student services where the situation will be assessed and, if necessary, you will be contacted with a view to authorising the administration of paracetamol or asked to collect your child from student services. Students are not allowed to make their own way home.

Prescribed medicines can be administered in school by our first aiders upon completion of the relevant paperwork. Please telephone Student Services to discuss this further should your child need medicating during the school day.

Students should not under any circumstances carry medication around school (with the exception of asthma inhalers).

Students with more complex medical issues are dealt with via the School Nurse/Progress & Achievement Manager/Progress & Achievement Leader.

More information about the adminstration of medicines and can be found by downloading the policy below.

The school can't administer any medicines to students without the written consent of parents/carers.  If your child needs specific medicine to be administered, please download the form below, complete, sign and return to Student Services.
