A Level Celebrations At Swanwick Hall School

We are delighted that Swanwick Hall students are once again celebrating some excellent A Level results and send our congratulations to them, their families and their teachers. Students’ plans involve university or apprenticeships and employment to destinations including Durham, Warwick, Lincoln, Sheffield, Liverpool and Chester.

Whilst the majority of our students continue to access university places, alternative routes include jobs with local companies, art courses at college, applications to the RAF, apprenticeships, gap years and a football scholarship in the USA.

Oli Hill, who achieved 4 A* grades, will take up a place at the University of Warwick to study economics; Craig Wilbourne, who achieved 1 A* and 3 A grades will study computer science at the University of Birmingham; Lydia Naylor, who achieved an A grade and 2 B grades, will study biological sciences at Durham University; Daniel Clarke will attend the University of Leeds to study chemistry after achieving 3 A grades and 1 B grade; Joshua Appleton will be taking up a place at CAE Oxford for commercial pilot training after achieving 2 A grades and 1 B grade.

Other courses include primary education, education with psychology and counselling, sport coaching, history, English literature, TESOL and linguistics, professional policing, music production, international business, accountancy and business, philosophy, psychology and scientific thought and adult nursing.

The diversity of the destinations and courses to be studied reflect the strength and breadth of the curriculum offer within our Sixth Form and the quality of the support and advice offered by our team to ensure that students are able to pursue their ambitions with success.

We are delighted to report a strong pass rate this year for our students, with several managing to exceed their challenging targets. Additionally, as students and staff develop their knowledge of the new challenging qualifications now available in post 16 learning, we are pleased to report a number of students achieving to the very highest levels with several A* or Distinction* grades across the curriculum. We wish all of our Year 13 students the very best, whatever career path they choose, and look forward to hearing about their undoubted successes in the future.

GCSE Celebrations

A cacophony of excitement and wide smiles filled the dining room this morning as Year 11 students opened their GCSE results.

Amongst the many excellent achievements from our students, a special mention must go to Niamh Worthy who achieved a perfect set of grade 9s in all of her subjects. This is a truly outstanding achievement and means that Niamh is one of only 800 students nationally this year, out of 700 000 students, to achieve this feat. Overall, 26 students achieved an average of grade 7 or higher across their suite of subjects and there were successes for students at all levels of ability and across all subject areas.

We are delighted to congratulate our Year 11 students on their results. We are proud of them all and wish them every success for the future. It has been great to see so many of them enrolling for our Sixth Form this morning and to hear of so many plans for apprenticeships or work-based training or studying at another post-16 institution. Strongly supported by parents and staff, they have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to move successfully to the next stage of their education with great confidence. Enrolment for the Sixth Form continues, if you would like more information please email Miss Haslam on dha@swanwickhall.derbyshire.sch.uk or visit our Sixth Form section of our website.

Cashless School And Parentpay

From September 2019, we are moving to be totally cashless and all parents will be required to use Parentpay to pay for trips and events in addition to using it to credit students’ dining room accounts.  If any parents don’t have login details to the Parentpay system then please complete the form from the school website http://www.swanwickhall.derbyshire.sch.uk/ParentPay or copies are available from the Student Hatch, and return to school; we will then send you login details.

For parents who don’t have access to the internet and still wish to pay by cash or cheque, you can request a Paypoint card which can then be taken into any convenience store or supermarket where the PayPoint logo is displayed, and payments can be made to credit accounts for the dining room. For other items such as school trips, you can request a Paypoint barcode letter which is unique to the student and the payment item/trip it is issued against. This is to ensure that any payments are correctly attributed on the ParentPay site.

If you have any questions relating to Parentpay and the options available to you, please contact the school.
